On HP instructions I found the following,

quote,

You can increase or decrease brightness from the on-screen display menu on the monitor. On most HP monitors, press the Menu button, select Brightness, then press the + and - buttons to make adjustments. Review the monitor user guide for additional color, contrast, and image quality settings.

unquote.

I searched for a Menu button.  There is one, "HDMI display mode button".  A paper sheet "Setup instructions" described use of the button.  When I pressed it the result was words like:  "HDMI display ..."  There is reference to Short button Press, First long button press... which I have not tried because I have not opened an On Screen Display menu.

There is advice:  "This display supports settings ... blue light.  To adjust these settings, open the HP display control basic menu."

Is it straightforward to open the HP display control basic menu?

I read Redman4 dated 12-04-2016.

My eyes develop pterygium after glare and I have already adjusted Windows 10 displays.  A mesh screen might be bought to hang over the whole monitor.  Hope I do not have to "wear sunglasses" because that would mean my reading spectacles would require new lenses.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I see that your experiencing issue with the Monitor is too bright. I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.

As you've performed relevant troubleshooting steps and still the brightness of the monitor is not corrected.

Let's try this step: Adjusting Low Blue Light Mode:

Decreasing the blue light emitting from the display reduces the blue light exposure to your eyes. HP computers provide a setting to reduce blue light output and create a more relaxing and less stimulating image while you read content on the screen.

To adjust your monitor to a comfortable viewing light, follow the steps below.

To adjust the blue light output from the display:

  • Open the HP Display Control app.
  • Select your desired setting:
  • Low Blue Light: TUV certified. Reduces the blue light for improved eye comfort
  • Night: Adjusts to the lowest blue light and reduces the impact on sleep
  • Reading: Optimizes blue light and brightness for indoor viewing

Hope this helps!

Hello Echo_Lake

Thank you.   On 21 November (date at my location) I posted a reply to you.  Because it does not appear on Posts I believe I made an error.

Before, I had read in HP advices about adjusting low Blue Light mode but I focussed on the HDMI display mode button.

I hope to try the method you suggest but that will not be for a day or more.

There are duties I must undertake.
