Hello, I downloaded Windows 10 to our HP Pavillion All In One computer and since the update the screen is dim upon coming out of sleep mode. We have to restart the computer every time in order for the screen to return to normal brightness so you can see it.
I contacted Geek Squad today regarding this issue and the agent accessed our computer remotely and changed our computer settings so the computer never sleeps. I understand when he says that this will remedy the problem but I don't want our computer up and running 24/7 if we don't need it to. I just want it to be like it used to be when the computer would go into sleep mode and we would just touch a key or move the mouse and the computer would awaken to our desktop at the correct brightness without having to restart and log in again.
Please help and thank you.
Kindly,
tj

@tj62 Welcome to HP Community!
If you don't wish to keep the computer on all the time, sleep mode is not the answer, as its on even when its in sleep mode, all processes are still running in the background, it's just that the monitor turns off, that said, if you wish to save power or aren't using the device, its better to turn it off and let it cool down.
That said, to resolve the issue with the dim screen, please install all available windows updates as a patch may have been released by Windows to fix such issues,
if you've already done that and yet the issue persists, I suggest you turn off adaptive brightness using the below steps and check if it helps:
1. Open the Start Menu.
2. Click the gear icon to bring up the Settings Menu.
3. Choose System
4. Select Display.
5. Toggle the Night light switch to On.
6. Click Night light settings to adjust the level of blue displayed, or determine the time for Night Light to activate automatically.

Thank you for the response. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:
Install updates using HP Support Assistant
- In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
- Check for updates.
- If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.
Access the BIOS screen to check if the issue persists.
1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F10 key.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
