Hey I'm hoping someone might have some insight....
Last night when I turned on my computer, the display would turn on but then not connect to the GPU, and go back to sleep again. (Monitor is HP 2511x, Product XP599A; manufactured Jan 2012.) The Omen lighting was also staying default white rather than my settings. After a minute or two, the GPU fan stopped. I tried a hard reboot a couple of times, and tried re-seating the GPU (AMD Radeon Rx 5700), all to no avail. A friend brought their monitor over, and it connected and worked just fine. This morning I tried my original monitor again, it had screen-tear for a second on start-up, otherwise now working perfectly.
So my question is.... Should I suspect my monitor is failing (it is 10 years old after all...), or that it might be a GPU, driver, or other computer-related problem, because while I finally have this machine currently stable, it has been buggy as hell so I also wouldn't be surprised if this is a new bug. Machine is under warranty for another two weeks...
Thanks all!!

hey
sorry what do you mean here?
"The Omen lighting was also staying default white rather than my settings."
"After a minute or two, the GPU fan stopped. I tried a hard reboot a couple of times, and tried re-seating the GPU (AMD Radeon Rx 5700)"
If the GPU fan stops, not a good sign.
but what did you do, what do you mean by "re-seating the GPU exactly
If as you say, the gpu doesn't seem to work anymore, the fans don't work anymore, the computer seems blocked finally, it's probably not the monitor the problem
But test it with another computer, you will be fixed
It works, your computer is the problem!
unless you are unlucky and have a computer that has a problem, and a monitor that breaks down
