Hi @ISHAN20,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The behavior you’re describing, where dead pixels seem to move and glow when pressed, is unusual and may indicate a problem with your laptop's LCD screen.
- Stuck Pixels: Pixels that appear "dead" but are actually stuck on a specific color or brightness level.
- Pressure Damage: Physical pressure on the screen could disrupt the liquid crystals, causing issues with pixel functionality.
- Debris or Air Bubbles: If the dead pixels "move" when pressed, it might suggest a layer inside the screen has a defect, like trapped debris or air bubbles.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Pixel Repair Tools:
- Use software tools like JScreenFix or other pixel repair applications to attempt to revive stuck pixels. These rapidly flash colors over the affected area to stimulate the pixels.
Gentle Massage:
- Power off the laptop.
- Use a microfiber cloth to gently massage the area where the dead pixels are located. Apply light pressure in a circular motion.
Check Display Connections:
- If you're comfortable, reseat the display cable inside the laptop. A loose connection can cause anomalies like dead pixels spreading.
Display Diagnostics:
- Run the built-in HP diagnostics (press F2 during boot to access the hardware diagnostics). This will help confirm if the issue is with the screen or another component.
External Display Test:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the issue doesn’t appear on the external display, it confirms a problem with your laptop’s screen.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
