My 2009 HP 2159 m/r monitor is now attached to a new HP computer with Win 11 and flashing "Dynamic Contrast Ration is off. There are no settings for Dynamic contrast on the monitor itself. Is it just too old to work on Win 11? The monitor does not have this problem when reattached to the previous 2009 HP computer. The Win 11 computer does not show this problem with a much older Gateway monitor attached.

Hi @45latte,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's unlikely that the issue is specifically due to the age of the monitor. Dynamic Contrast Ratio is a feature that adjusts the brightness and contrast of the display dynamically based on the content being shown.
Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for both your graphics card and your monitor. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues with newer operating systems like Windows 11.
- Check Display Settings: Go to your display settings in Windows 11 and see if there are any settings related to dynamic contrast ratio. It's possible that Windows is trying to enable this feature automatically, and you may be able to disable it there.
- Check Graphics Card Settings: Some graphics card control panels have settings related to dynamic contrast ratio or other display enhancements. Check if there are any settings related to this in the control panel for your graphics card and try adjusting them.
- Check Monitor Settings: Even though you mentioned there are no settings for dynamic contrast ratio on the monitor itself, double-check the monitor's menu settings just to be sure. Sometimes these settings can be buried in submenus or have different names.
- Compatibility Mode: Try running the monitor in compatibility mode if Windows 11 offers such an option. This may help if there are compatibility issues between the monitor and the operating system.
- Test with Different Cable/Port: Sometimes, using a different cable or a different port on your graphics card can resolve compatibility issues. Try using a different cable (e.g., HDMI, DVI, VGA) or a different port on your graphics card to see if that makes a difference.
- Check for Firmware Updates: Though less common for monitors, some monitors have firmware updates that can address compatibility issues. Check the HP website to see if there are any firmware updates available for your monitor.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be an incompatibility between the monitor and Windows 11, in which case you may need to consider using a different monitor.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
