@Kkhalia, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're dealing with a recurring issue of your HP computer freezing and displaying a black screen. Here are some steps you can try to fix the issue:

Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or corrupted drivers could be a primary cause of the black screen issue, especially if it happens after a glitch.

Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters > right-click your graphics card and choose Update Driver. Alternatively, you can visit the manufacturer’s website (Intel, NVIDIA, AMD) for the latest drivers.

Perform a Hard Reset

Turn off your computer. Unplug it from the power source, and if it’s a laptop, remove the battery (if possible). Hold down the power button for about 15-30 seconds. This will discharge any residual power and may resolve some glitches.

Check for System Updates

Windows Update: Outdated system files can cause issues with stability.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Check for Updates and install any available updates.

Check for Corrupted System Files

Corrupt files can cause your system to act erratically, including black screens after glitches.

Run the System File Checker (SFC) and Check Disk Utility (CHKDSK).

Open Command Prompt as an Administrator.

Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. Wait for the scan to complete and fix any issues.

You can also run chkdsk /f to check for hard drive errors.

Update BIOS/Firmware

An outdated BIOS (basic input-output system) can sometimes cause hardware compatibility issues that might lead to screen glitches.

Visit HP’s official support website, search for your specific model, and check if there’s a newer BIOS version. Follow the instructions carefully to update it.

Check Power Settings and Screen Timeout

It might be an issue with how the display is being turned off or going into sleep mode.

Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings, and make sure the display and sleep settings are adjusted properly. Try setting the display to never turn off as a temporary test.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
