My laptop doesn't detect my hp monitor

So, I recently got this HP Monitor that has 3 outputs, display port, dvi and vga. I tried to connect on my laptop different ways, but none of them worked. I have tried connecting the vga to my usb-c, did not work. I tried display port do usb-c, did not work either. Then I tried display port to the hdmi port, but it was not even detected by the laptop. I want to try and get a DVi cable to hdmi, to see if it works but I have a feeling it won't. Can anyone help me?
