curious, at home it worked immediately with!
There must be several possibilities, but a fairly simple one, it will probably be necessary to do it, for the different types of images desired (jpg, png etc.)
Choose an image, right click, open with ..
if the program is present, i don't know if it will work every time, i can't test here, but select 'choose another app', here there is an option at the bottom, always
so choose the application, or search for it if not visible here, then click on always
