Im setting up my brand new envy te01-4000 with a p22v g5 monitor. I have the power and hdmi cables connected the internet connected to the tower, but the monitor does not turn on.  Am I missing a cable? I am pressing the monitor power button both once and once-and-hold, but nothing. Surge protector is on. Outlet is on. Tower turns on.

Hi @Kqog,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your monitor isn't turning on despite being connected properly, here are some steps to troubleshoot and ensure you haven't missed anything.

  • Check Monitor Power Cable: Make sure the power cable is securely connected to both the monitor and a working outlet or surge protector. You can also try plugging the monitor directly into a wall outlet to rule out issues with the surge protector.
  • Power Button: Confirm that you are pressing the correct power button on the monitor. On the HP P22v G5, the power button is typically located at the bottom right or back of the monitor.
  • Check HDMI Connection: Ensure the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the monitor and the HDMI output port on the tower. Try using a different HDMI port on the computer if available or another HDMI cable to rule out a faulty cable.
  • Monitor Input Source: The monitor might be set to a different input. Use the monitor’s menu buttons to navigate and make sure it is set to the correct HDMI input.
  • Test with Another Device: If possible, try connecting the monitor to a different device (e.g., a laptop or another desktop) using the same HDMI cable to see if it displays anything.
  • Check for Display from the Tower: If you have another monitor or TV, connect it to the tower to confirm the system is outputting a display.

If none of these steps work, there may be an issue with the monitor or the cables, and you may want to consider replacing the HDMI cable or checking for a power-related issue with the monitor itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
