I just purchased the buisness edition HP All-in-One 27" Touchscreen (2TB) Desktop but can't get it setup because it does not reconize the mouse or keyboard that came with it. I can not even restart as there is no Start Button on the screen either. Is there some kind of issue with this computer or a way to figure it out? So upset spending so much money for something I can not even use 😞

Hi @ThePigPatch,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP All-in-One 27" Touchscreen Desktop isn't recognizing the mouse or keyboard that came with it, and you're unable to proceed with the initial setup, there are several potential issues and solutions to consider:

1. Check Connections:

  • Wireless Mouse/Keyboard: If your mouse and keyboard are wireless, ensure the USB receiver is properly plugged into the computer. Try different USB ports if necessary.
  • Battery Check: If they use batteries, make sure the batteries are properly inserted and have sufficient charge.
  • Wired Mouse/Keyboard: If they are wired, ensure they are securely connected to the USB ports.

2. Power Cycle the Computer:

  • Force Restart: If you can't interact with the screen, press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds until the computer shuts down. Wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
  • This might resolve any temporary issues causing the peripherals not to be recognized.

3. Try a Different Mouse/Keyboard:

  • If possible, try connecting a different mouse or keyboard (wired or wireless) to the computer to see if they are recognized. This can help determine if the issue is with the original peripherals or the computer itself.

4. Check for Interference:

  • Wireless Interference: If using wireless peripherals, ensure there are no devices nearby that might cause interference (like other wireless devices, routers, or even metal objects).

5. Touchscreen Navigation:

  • On-Screen Keyboard: If the touchscreen is working, you can use it to open the on-screen keyboard (which can usually be found in the Ease of Access settings) to navigate or input commands.
  • Accessing the Start Menu: You can try swiping from the right edge of the screen to access the Action Center and possibly restart the computer or troubleshoot from there.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @ThePigPatch,

Please find the next steps below.

6. BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • If the issue persists, you might need to access the BIOS/UEFI settings to check if the USB ports or wireless peripherals are disabled. This can usually be done by pressing F10, Esc, or another key (depending on the model) during startup.

7. Reset the PC:

  • As a last resort, if you can't get the mouse and keyboard to work, you might consider resetting the PC, but this should only be done if you're sure there's nothing to lose.

If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with the computer itself. In this case, contacting HP phone support would be the next best step

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
