Product: E273 monitor
Operating System: macOS 10.14 Mojave

I can find no mention, even, in the documentation or on the web, that this device has no speakers, no audio output at all. Is that possible? I'm using Apple TV to mirror my laptop, and to access Netflix, etc.

If it is like the E243 then it has no speakers.  It is purely a monitor.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that  E243d build without speaker.
