HP Pavilion 15-eh1075cl (3A8G7UA)
Microsoft Windows 11

After using the  HP Cloud Recovery Tool to restore the factory image on a HP Pavilion 15-eh1075cl (3A8G7UA), the laptop no longer has the HID-compliant touch screen feature. The touch screen passes both the touch pointer test and the drag and drop test in the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI component tests. How can I restore the missing touch screen feature in Windows 11?

@schnupp, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Unresponsive Touch Screen in Windows 11!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When the touch screen on your HP Pavilion 15-eh1075cl (3A8G7UA) does not work after a factory reset, you can try the following steps to restore its functionality in Windows 11:

Confirm Touch Screen Hardware:

  • If you are unsure if your computer has a touch screen, search for and open View pen and touch info in Windows.
  • Check the product specifications on the HP site or the labels on your computer and its packaging.

Run Windows Update:

  • Update your Windows 11 computer using Windows Update to ensure all drivers and software are up to date.

Configure Touch Display:

  • In Windows, search for and open Settings.
  • Search for and open Calibrate the screen for pen and touch input.
  • On the Display tab, click Setup.
  • Click Touch input and follow the on-screen directions to identify your screen as a touch screen.

Perform HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Connect the AC adapter and turn off the computer.
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly.
  • When the Startup menu appears, press F2.
  • On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI screen, click Component Tests, then click Touch Screen.
  • Perform the Touch Pointer Test and the Drag and Drop Test. If both tests pass but the issue persists, continue to the next step.

Change Power Settings:

  • In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
  • Expand the Human Interface Devices list.
  • Right-click the HID-compliant touch screen device, and then click Properties.
  • On the Power Management tab, unselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and click OK.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thanks for the response, @Zoey7886. As I had mentioned originally, the screen passes both the Touch Pointer Test and the Drag and Drop Test under HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. The HID-compliant touch screen device does not appear in the Human Interface Devices list in Device Manager (even with hidden devices shown) so there are no power settings that can be changed. Windows update reports everything is up to date.

How do I get Windows to detect and install the drivers for the HID-compliant touch screen device?

HP Recommended

@schnupp, thanks for your detailed update!

I hear you – it's frustrating when everything seems to check out in diagnostics, but Windows just won’t recognize the touchscreen.

Let’s try breathing some life back into the HID-compliant touch screen with a few deeper steps:

Try Manually Triggering a Driver Reinstall:

In Device Manager, at the top menu, click Action > Scan for hardware changes – sometimes this gently nudges Windows to rediscover devices.

Still no luck? Expand System Devices and Universal Serial Bus Controllers – occasionally the touchscreen hides under these. Look for anything unfamiliar or with a warning sign.

Reinstall Touch Screen Drivers from HP:

Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your model: HP Pavilion 15-eh1075cl (3A8G7UA)

Download and install the latest Intel I/O and chipset drivers, graphics drivers, and HP System Event Utility – these often bundle in touchscreen functionality.

Reset BIOS (Just in Case):

Power off the laptop.

Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold Power for 2–3 seconds.

Release all keys – this performs a basic firmware reset.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

All good suggestions. Unfortunately, Windows didn't find any additional devices, and the touchscreen was not lurking among System Devices or USB Controllers. I installed all the latest pertinent software and drivers from the support page for my laptop, but the touch screen functionality was not restored. I also rest the BIOS as you had recommended, but still no joy.

I remain open to any other suggestions to bring my touch screen back.

@schnupp, thank you for hanging in there — I know how disheartening it is when something as intuitive and natural as a touch screen suddenly feels like it’s ghosted you after a reset.

Since the UEFI diagnostics confirm the hardware’s alive and well, yet Windows still won’t see it, we’re clearly dealing with a driver-level invisibility cloak.

Let’s try one more deep nudge:

Restore Missing HID Device via Legacy Add:

Open Device Manager.

Click Action > Add legacy hardware (you might need admin privileges).

Select “Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)” > Next.

Scroll to Human Interface Devices, then try adding the HID-compliant touch screen from the list.

Let it install and reboot your system.

If this doesn’t summon the device back, it might be worth trying a clean reinstall using Windows 11 Media Creation Tool instead of HP Cloud Recovery — sometimes the factory image lacks finer HID drivers for specific panels.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Adding legacy hardware in Device Manager was not successful. There was no option to select HID-compliant touch screen from the list.

I heeded your suggestion reinstall from a USB flash drive made with the Windows 11 media creation tool. After booting from the USB drive, I deleted all the existing partitions on the internal drive at the beginning of the process to ensure a clean install that carried nothing over from the previous install. The end result was a touch screen that is regratably still non-functional.

In order to complete the setup, I needed to download and install the network driver for my WLAN card since it apparently was not included in the Windows 11 install media image. This leads me to question why can I not do the same for the touch screen? Where can I download the HID-compliant touch screen driver?

HP Recommended

@schnupp, I really appreciate your persistence, and I can imagine how frustrating this must feel — like the touchscreen is right there behind the glass, but just won’t respond to your touch.

You’re absolutely right to wonder: if I can fetch my Wi-Fi driver, why not the touchscreen one too?

Here’s the tricky part — the HID-compliant touch screen driver isn’t always a standalone download. It usually comes bundled with:

Windows Update

Intel I/O or chipset drivers

Or even via OEM firmware updates

Since we’ve tried the HP Cloud Recovery, a clean Windows install, BIOS reset, and HP drivers with no luck — this might point to a firmware mismatch or missing INF mapping for the digitizer hardware.

Next best step:

Try Intel’s Driver & Support Assistant:
It often picks up devices Windows misses — including hidden HID or I2C touch components.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I finally got round to installing and running the Intel DSA. Unfortunately, it reports, "No supported driver or software updates are available for your system." Might this be because my laptop is an AMD-based system?

In any case, my touch screen issue is still unresolved.
