Hi @Gaya1239,
Thank you for your help, however none of those suggestions have worked.
HOWEVER, I found the issue and I'm happy to report the solution. (maybe you can put this solution in your helpdesk database).
The issue is caused by having Windows 11 HDR mode ON.
If you go to Windows settings > System > Display then disable "Use HDR" and the issue is gone. You can now fully change the settings in the OSD.

Hi @GrumpyDingo,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're encountering an issue where the OSD (On-Screen Display) settings are restricted when using a DisplayPort connection with your OMEN 32Q monitor. This behavior may be linked to how the monitor is detecting the signal from the DisplayPort versus HDMI. Here's how you can potentially resolve it:
1. Check DisplayPort Version and Monitor Settings
- Ensure DisplayPort Version Compatibility: The DisplayPort cable that comes with the monitor should support the required resolution and refresh rate for your monitor (QHD at 165Hz). Double-check that your laptop or PC is using a DisplayPort 1.2 or higher version. Some older DisplayPort versions may limit certain features in the OSD.
- Monitor Firmware: Make sure that your monitor is running the latest firmware. HP may have released a firmware update to resolve such issues.
- To check for updates, go to the HP support website for your specific monitor model, or use the OMEN Command Center (if applicable) to check for updates.
2. Disable Dynamic Range or Color Settings in Graphics Card
- If you're using a NVIDIA or AMD graphics card, ensure that the dynamic range and color settings are correctly set to match the monitor's capabilities.
- For NVIDIA, right-click on the desktop, go to NVIDIA Control Panel, and under the Display section, check the Adjust desktop color settings. Set it to Full for color range and ensure Color Depth is set to 8 bpc.
- For AMD, go to the AMD Radeon Settings, then navigate to Display and ensure the color settings are compatible.
3. Reboot with DisplayPort Cable Connected
- After ensuring all the settings above are in place, restart the computer with the DisplayPort cable connected. Sometimes, the settings may not be recognized correctly until the monitor is powered up and the signal is detected.
4. Try Different DisplayPort Cables
- If possible, try a different high-quality DisplayPort cable. It's possible the cable you're using may be causing the issue, even if it is the one provided.
5. Reset OSD Settings
- You could try resetting the monitor’s OSD settings to default. This might resolve any conflicts or issues that are causing the settings to be greyed out. This option is usually available in the OSD under a "Reset" option.
6. OSD Behavior for DisplayPort and HDMI
- Some monitors might prioritize HDMI for color and picture adjustments while limiting options on DisplayPort, especially in higher resolutions or refresh rates. If all else fails and you don’t want to continue using HDM.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Issue is solved!
When you turn on HDR on Windows, you are not able to use your own personal colour profiles, even in the monitor itself, it seems.
The moment you turn HDR off on windows, then you can use your own personal colour profiles and the image settings are again available in the monitor's OSD.
