Omen 35L
Microsoft Windows 11

I understand the motherboard does not support video output from the on-cpu Radeon 780M Graphics.

But can I access the igpu for AI workloads somehow?

The PC has a discrete Nvidia RTX card, but for AI, it would be beneficial to use BOTH the iGPU and the discrete GPU.

The Radeon adapter does not show up in Device manager. Is there a way to add it?

I looked for relevant settings in BIOS, don't see anything that seems relevant.

TY!

Hi @giq67,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To utilize the integrated AMD Radeon™ 780M iGPU for compute workloads alongside your discrete NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ card, you would generally need to ensure that the iGPU is enabled and recognized by the system. Based on the available information, the OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop you mentioned should allow for this if the proper configurations are made. Here's a detailed approach to solve this issue:

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your PC and enter the BIOS setup by pressing the appropriate key (usually F10 or Esc) during the boot process.
  • Navigate to the Advanced or Built-In Device Options tab.
  • Look for any options related to graphics settings, integrated GPU, or Hybrid/UMA mode.
  • If available, enable hybrid mode which might allow the system to recognize both the iGPU and the discrete GPU.

Verify and Install Drivers:

  • Once the BIOS settings are adjusted, boot into Windows.
  • Download and install the latest AMD chipset and graphics drivers from the AMD support page.
  • Ensure the drivers for the Radeon 780M are installed, which might help in recognizing the iGPU in Device Manager.

Check Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager and it should list the AMD Radeon™ 780M under Display Adapters or a similar category if recognized.
  • If not listed, try scanning for new hardware changes by selecting Action > Scan for hardware changes.

Utilize Hybrid Graphics Configuration:

  • If the BIOS and driver configuration allows, hybrid settings enable the integrated graphics to assist CPU computations.
  • The hybrid mode serves as a bridge between the iGPU and discrete GPUs, optimizing performance.

Windows Graphics Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings.
  • You can manually configure to optimize certain applications to use either the iGPU or the dGPU for particular tasks.

I hope this helps.
