My optical drive that came with my computr does not recognize any disc that is inserted.  Instead it opens the drive and provides a pop-up that indicates that no disc is present.  I have an external drive that works so I am assuming tht the software is good.    When I go to Device Manager the drive is shown.  I uninstalled the drive and then restared the computer with the same results as before.  Is there any way to check the drive to make a correction?  Thanks for any help.

Thank you for joining the HP Support Community

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you please help me with the operating system of the computer?

However, follow this document: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03280768 for CD/DVD Drive Cannot Read Discs.

Keep me posted.

Have a great day!

Cheers:)
