I am trying to connect a monitor to my USB-c port on my HP all-in-one desktop with 27-inch screen.

It looks like the USB-C to VGA adapter is not an option. Is there an adapter that will allow me to connect using the USB-C port.

Hi @ellswjr

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

When attempting to connect a monitor to the USB-C port on your HP all-in-one desktop with a 27-inch screen, you can utilize adapters that are compatible with your connection type. While the USB-C to VGA adapter may not be an option, you have other alternatives as specified below:

Compatible Adapters:

  1. USB-C to HDMI Adapter
    • This allows you to connect your monitor using an HDMI cable.
  2. USB-C to DisplayPort Adapter
    • This enables connection to monitors that support DisplayPort via a compatible DisplayPort cable.

Steps to Connect Your Monitor:

USB-C to HDMI Adapter:

  • Connect the USB-C end of the adapter to your desktop.
  • Attach one end of the HDMI cable to the adapter and the other end to your monitor's HDMI port.

USB-C to DisplayPort Adapter:

  • Connect the USB-C end of the adapter to your desktop.
  • Attach one end of the DisplayPort cable to the adapter and the other end to your monitor’s DisplayPort

Important Note:

Ensure the monitor's resolution and refresh rate are supported by your desktop's GPU to get optimal performance.

To verify if the monitor is recognized by your system:

  1. Open Settings from the Start menu.
  2. Select System, and then choose Display.
  3. Ensure your monitor is detected and correctly configured under display settings.
