Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to get your HP Pavilion 31.5-inch All-in-One Desktop PC to recognize your ViewSonic monitor.
Check the Cable & Ports
- Ensure the HDMI (or DisplayPort) cable is securely connected to both your desktop and the ViewSonic monitor.
- Try a different cable if available.
- If your monitor has multiple input options (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA), make sure it's set to the correct input source.
Restart & Detect Display
- Restart your PC and check if the monitor is recognized.
- Go to Settings > System > Display and click Detect under "Multiple displays."
Check Graphics Driver
- Update your graphics driver:
- Right-click Start, select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click your GPU (Intel or NVIDIA) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
Try a Different Port
- If your PC has multiple video output ports, try another one.
- If using a docking station or adapter, test connecting the monitor directly.
Test the Monitor
- Connect the ViewSonic monitor to another device (like a laptop) to check if it works.
- If the monitor is not displaying on another device, it could be a faulty monitor or cable.
Adjust Display Settings
- Right-click on the desktop, select Display settings.
- Scroll down to Multiple displays and try selecting Extend these displays.
- Ensure the correct resolution is set for the external monitor.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
