Pavilion 23xw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I plug in the Pavilion using an HDMI regular to an HDMI micro in the laptop the monitor blinks for about 20-30 minutes at which point it starts to work properly. I tested the Asus with a different monitor and it plugged in and worked perfectly.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, you're trying to connect the monitor to your computer,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

When was the last time it worked fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

Have you tried connecting using a VGA cable?

If not, I suggest you try using a VGA cable and check the functionality,

Also, try using a different HDMI cable.

Let me know how this goes,

Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestions.

A few things:

It might have worked when I first got it but then I didn't use it for a year or more because I was working outside my home office. When I finally got back to it it had this problem.

The monitor flickers for about 30 minutes and then it shows the screen. However today it never turned on, just been flickering.

I am fairly sure it's not the lap top since I took to my office and tried it on a screen there and it worked perfectly.

It almost seems to me that there isnt enough power . Maybe the power supply is not working properly. When I hold the power button for 10 seconds or more it doesn't reset or anything. Also the light on the bottom right almost never goes on, which I assume means that it is not actually on.

I am using an hdmi to hdmi micro cable. I bought a 9 pin to usb only to realize it needs a 14 pin (?) . Haven't bought another cable. The hdmi to hdmi misro worked fine when I tested it at my office and I just dont feel spending more money on cables when the monitrs like this aren't that expensive.

Any ideas? Thx.

Edward
