Pavilion 27xi
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I recently picked up a used HP Pavilion 27xi monitor. I hook it up, turn on my desktop computer, and it's working perfectly. However, I get curious about what all the functions of the buttons do in the bottom right and so I press the left-most button, the menu button. Instantly the screen goes black though the power light stayed on. I unplugged everything from the monitor and plugged in only the power and the screen now flashes red, blue, green, and white at me while the power button turns off and on rapidly. I am unable to open the menu or use any of the buttons. Plugging it back into my computer only gets me a black screen. Any help would be appreciated.

@Deegee13244,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Please look at the documents for HP Flat Panel LCD Monitors - Monitor is Blank.

With monitors, there is very little for troubleshooting. make sure plugged into wall and power cycle. Check the cables are connected correctly.

Please try a hard reset on the monitor:

  • Power off the monitor.
  • Disconnect the power cable and display cable from the monitor.
  • Press and hold the monitor power button for 10 seconds and then release it.

Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

I've gotten my monitor to work, but if my computer goes into sleep mode the screen goes black and does not come back on unless I restart both the computer and monitor. Any suggestions for how to prevent monitor going black upon computer entering sleep mode?

@Deegee13244,

In this scenario, I would suggest here is to ensure all the Windows drivers are up to date:

Let's run Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to uninstall the display drivers on your PC from device manager.

Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.

Check the box that states delete the software for this device.

Now restart the computer and then update the Bios, Chipset and graphics card drivers on your PC either from our HP support website, using this link or download it using HP Support Assistant

Download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Let me know the outcome!

Cheers 🙂
