HP Envy 27/27S Monitor
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I am unable to get a HP Envy 27" Monitor  to detect my Apple MacBook Pro 2015 model using HP's provided HDM-HDMI cable assembly.

I have confirmed that my macbook pro drives another monitor with this port (older Samsung model).

Has anyone else run into this and have a solution?  I have spoken to Apple, who suggested that I may have a DOA monitor/cable assembly from HP.   They also suggested it MIGHT get better by upgrading to the newest High Sierra OS (10.13).

Please advise.

Based on another posting of a related topic, I tried this:

in display menu, go to: Input Control/Auto_switch Input.  It defaults to "OFF" so as soon as I changed this, the display was instantly recognized and I now have a working monitor!

HP: please change the factor ship configuration so that this is turned ON from the factory!  This will save a lot of customer headaches!

BTW: your technical support (Bangledesh?) was of no use on this point.

Note that I went into the setup menu of the display and configured the Input control/DP Hot-Plug Detection to "Always Active" as suggested by a different HP post on a related topic but found this solution to be ineffective for my problem.
