HP Pavilion All-in-One 24-b206d
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone 👋  My PC’s screen started flickering and there has been a white rectangular frame persisting on the screen (see Fig. 1.) about 2 days ago. I’ve tried all (except the last one- taking it to a technician) suggested solutions in this post from HP official website. Uninstalling & updating display drivers seemed to help initially, but the same issue would return in less than 3 minutes after trying this solution for multiple times. Just wanna clarify, the black rectangle on the top is a card, it has nothing to do with the screen issue.Fig. 1. White frame and the webpage I was on “overlays” the Lock Screen.Fig. 1. White frame and the webpage I was on “overlays” the Lock Screen.

There also seem to be some issues with the refresh rate? As shown in Fig. 2 & 3, highlighting text, unlocking the PC, moving the cursor etc., basically any “movement” on the screen is laggy.

Fig. 2. Laggy highlighting of text in the search barFig. 2. Laggy highlighting of text in the search barFig. 3. Screen lagging as I unlocked the computerFig. 3. Screen lagging as I unlocked the computer

I’ve also ran fast test of the PC hardware using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics app a couple of times, test results were fine and BIOS is up to date.

A little more information on the screen issue, as I could recall, I’ve seen a few black lines flashing on the 4 sides of the screen not long ago, but because they weren’t as distracting as this issue is, and the whole screen didn’t flicker back then, so it didn’t occur to me as an issue.

Also, I actually screen-recorded typing, highlighting text in a web browser and closing the browser window, as a test, then I watched the screen recording on another device. Surprisingly, all the issues described above were not observed.

At this point, I still couldn’t determine if it’s the drivers problem or the LCD panel is damaged. Is there any more way forward? I really appreciate any suggestion and help.

Hi @huuhuu,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a Screen flickering and flashes with white rectangular frame- Drivers problem or Damaged LCD Panel issue with your HP Pavilion All-In-One 24-B206d. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

It's unfortunate to hear that you're experiencing screen flickering and other issues with your HP Pavilion All-In-One. Let's try to troubleshoot and narrow down the possible causes:

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Ensure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Visit the official HP website or the manufacturer's website for your graphics card and download the latest drivers. Sometimes, Windows Update may not provide the most recent drivers.

Rollback Graphics Drivers:

  • If updating the drivers doesn't solve the issue, you can try rolling back to the previous version of the graphics driver. Sometimes, the latest driver may not be fully compatible with your system.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows 10 operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, Microsoft releases updates that address hardware compatibility issues.

Boot in Safe Mode:

  • Boot your computer in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If the problem goes away in Safe Mode, it might be related to third-party software or drivers. This can help narrow down the cause.

External Display:

  • Connect your All-In-One to an external monitor. If the flickering persists on the external display, the issue may be related to the graphics card or drivers. If the external display works fine, it could indicate a problem with the internal display or its connection.

Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Run more comprehensive hardware diagnostics. While the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics app is a good start, consider using third-party tools like MemTest86 for RAM testing and other comprehensive diagnostic tools.

Reinstall Windows:

  • As a last resort, consider reinstalling Windows. This can help rule out any software-related issues. Ensure you back up your important data before performing a reinstall.

Opening the BIOS Setup Utility

Access the BIOS Setup Utility using a series of key presses during the boot process.

Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.

Turn on the computer, and then immediately press the ESC key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.

Press f10 to open the BIOS Setup Utility and check if the screen is these issue in bios as well

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
