I recently bought a new all-in-one HP computer (HP 24-CR0058 NA) and had it professionally installed and set up with Microsoft Office Home.

Unfortunately on occasions the screen freezes, the cursor continues to be moved by the mouse but the cursor fails to activate the app pointed to.

The installer changed the mouse but this made no difference. He also checked out the system and ensured that the minimum number of apps were running in background mode.

CTRL - ALT - Delete followed by clicking on Task Manager instantly solved the problem for a period.

On one occasion this fault kept happening every few minutes, and yet on another occasion the system worked perfectly for many hours.

My question is:

Is HP aware of this issue and and if so is there a correction fix for this problem?

This appears to be a graphics controller problem.

To reset your graphics, press Windows Key + Ctrl + Shift + B simultaneously on your keyboard; this instantly restarts the graphics driver, causing a brief screen flicker and beep, fixing many display glitches without restarting your computer.

If the above "fixes" the symptom then the problem is the graphics.  Unless I am mistaken, your graphics is

embedded in the CPU or motherboard.

Verify you have version

FInd it here if you do not -or-

Get the latest HP support assistant and see what it recommends.

When you run it will provide a product id and a serial number as soon as the device is selected (if more than one HP device)

Intel also has a support assistant for drivers

Let me know what you find out.
