Microsoft Windows 11

We moved the computer to plug in a USB, the screen now has a black spot, lines and constant flickering/flashing, can the screen/unit be repaired or do I need to buy a whole new unit?

Hi @NettieBUK8425

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The black spot, lines, and flickering on your HP Pavilion All-in-One PC 24-ca0000a screen suggest physical damage or a hardware issue with the display panel.

Here are some steps and options to address the problem:

Troubleshooting and Repair Options

Inspect for Physical Damage:

  • Check the screen for visible cracks or damage. If the screen was impacted during the move, it might need replacement.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the computer and disconnect all peripherals.
  • Unplug the power adapter and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and turn the computer back on. This can resolve minor glitches.

Run Diagnostics:

  • Use the built-in HP diagnostics tool to check for hardware issues:
    • Restart the computer and press F2 repeatedly during startup to access diagnostics.
    • Run a display test to identify any faults.
