HP 24f 24-inch Display

I plugged my second monitor in and the little light in the back turn on. However, when I press the power button, nothing happens. I can't seem to figure out how to turn it on. This is a new problem - the monitor previously worked just fine.

Thanks!

It could be a weak signal due to loose connection.  Make sure the cable is connected good.

Try another cable.

If 2nd monitor is DVI or VGA examine both ends of cable and also the connector to see if a pin was bent or pushed back to where it is not making contact.

Look in windows device manager to see if the second monitor is listed.  If the monitor is listed but the WIN key plus "p" does not enable the second monitor then the signal is too weak for the monitor to turn on.  HDMI cables can really vary in quality, same for MIni-DP to monitor.
