I have a Pavilion 27xw monitor. A few weeks ago, I began seeing very short black horizontal lines on the monitor. They are present sometimes and not present other times. Each black line is about 1/4" in length. There will be a few hundred of them extending from side to side across the screen.
I found some information suggesting that opening up the Setup Test Pattern and then pressing the AUTO button on the monitor's front panel would solve the problem. This did not work. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks -

Hi @peterglass
Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
I understand that you are intermittently getting short black horizontal lines on the monitor.
I'd like to help.
Please try these steps.
-
Use the buttons on the front of the display to open the on-screen menu, and select Factory Reset or Default.
If you need help using the on-screen menu, see the manual for your display.
-
Unplug the video cable between the computer and the display and check the ends for bent or broken pins. If any pins are damaged, replace the cable. Otherwise, securely connect the cable between the computer and the display.
-
If possible, connect the display to another computer. If the lines appear when the display is connected to the second computer, the display might be damaged or defective
-
If the lines disappear when the display is connected to another computer, connect the display to the original computer and update the BIOS and Graphics card driver of your computer.
If it is an issue with the Monitor, please contact our Phone Support for Service Options.
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.
Keep me posted how it goes.
Thank you. 🙂
