Just noticed today what seems to be a permanent, thin line on the lower half of the monitor.  Almost looks like when you click and drag on a screen. Almost unnoticeable unless background colors change. All updates installed. I'm afraid this might be a problem with the monitor itself and nothing to do with display inputs etc. Is this a known defect with this monitor? Computer is only a year old.

Probably not, but there probably are very few people on this discussion forum who are likely to have the same monitor.  So, you probably will not get a good answer.

A solid-line indicates some problem with the monitor, or the computer's video circuits.

Computer is only a year old.

If it is less than 12 months old, contact HP Support, to open a "case" to exercise the HP Warranty, to get it repaired/replaced at HP's expense.
