Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After >2 months started getting spontaneous shading suddenly appearing on the screen (LCD Mura?), which goes away after a reboot, only to return shortly thereafter. Looks like a shadow patch. Starts with a column-like shape in the middle (vertically across the entire screen), and then expands to the entire left side of the screen. On the right edge it's semi translucent, but away from the edge screen gets completely opaque, grayed out. 2nd stage: shading expands to the left side obscuring half screen2nd stage: shading expands to the left side obscuring half screenStarts of with a center-screen vertical shadeStarts of with a center-screen vertical shade

Not sure how to check my PC's BIOS version?

Ran a check on Display Driver, only to learn I have the latest version.

My PC is less than 2 months old. I purchased it from HP directly. Why would I have an outdated BIOS ?

@Rombik,

Thank you for keeping me posted.

Please follow the below steps to find the bios version.

  • Click on Start, choose Run and type in msinfo32. This will bring up the Windows System information dialog box.
  • In the System Summary section, you should see an item called BIOS Version/Date. Now you know the current version of your BIOS.

If you have the latest bios then I recommend you follow the steps in the article I have provided in the previous post.

Also, please check whether the issue persists in bios. ( To boot to bios, turn on the computer and keep tapping the F10 key)

Let me know how it goes. Awaiting your reply!

Thanks for the BIOS tip. Will check once back at that machine.

As for the articles, none of them really describe my problem.

Hi, just got in front of my PC.  My BIOS Version is AMI F.03, Dated: 7/11/2017

Seems pretty recent to me.

Have no idea how to identify «ROM Family SSID» and without it don't know which BIOS Update to download. Suggestions?

Hey buddy. I've succesffully downloaded and installed the F.12 Rev.A. BIOS.  Subsequent msinfo32 run now shows  my BIOS Version/Date AMI F.12, 2/22/2018. So far no dark patch occurring. Will keep posted if it comes back. Hopefully, it wont.

Thank you for being so helpful
