@Keshav40, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. I'm here to help you with the issue you're facing on your HP Pavilion 14-dv1001TU, where the device suddenly shuts down and displays the message:
"Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart."
This message typically indicates a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error, which can be caused by hardware issues, driver conflicts, or corrupted system files. Let's go through a few steps to diagnose and resolve the issue:
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
- Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop.
Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
- Restart your PC after updates are installed.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
HP provides built-in diagnostics to check for hardware issues.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select System Tests > Quick Test (or Extensive Test for a deeper check).
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Run System File Checker
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Type the following command and press Enter:sfc /scannow
- Wait for the scan to complete and follow any repair instructions.
Update Drivers via HP Support Assistant
- Download and install HP Support Assistant if not already installed: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
- Open the app and check for updates under My devices > Updates.
- Install all recommended updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
