Hi @Pete12--__ ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're experiencing with your HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-3000i (4M0K0AV) where the TV screen momentarily blacks out, especially during video playback, could be due to several reasons.

Here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially fix the problem:

1. Check the Cable and Connections

  • HDMI Cable: Ensure the HDMI cable is securely connected to both your desktop and TV. Try a different HDMI cable to rule out a faulty cable.
  • Ports: Use a different HDMI port on your TV to see if the issue persists.

2. Update Graphics Drivers

  • Update Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause display issues. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
    • Go to Device Manager > Display adapters > Right-click your graphics adapter > Update driver.
    • Alternatively, visit the HP support website or the graphics card manufacturer's website (e.g., NVIDIA or AMD) to download the latest drivers.

3. Adjust Display Settings

  • Resolution and Refresh Rate: Mismatched resolution and refresh rate settings between your PC and TV can cause display issues.
    • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings. Make sure the display resolution and refresh rate match the capabilities of your TV.

4. Check Power Settings

  • Power Options: Incorrect power settings can cause the display to turn off or black out momentarily.
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings > Select High performance or customize your power plan to prevent the screen from turning off.

5. Disable Hardware Acceleration

  • Browser Settings: If the issue occurs mainly when viewing videos online, it might be due to hardware acceleration in your web browser.
    • For Google Chrome: Go to Settings > Advanced > System > Turn off Use hardware acceleration when available.
    • For Microsoft Edge: Go to Settings > System and performance > Turn off Use hardware acceleration when available.

6. Test with a Different Display

  • Alternative Display: Connect your desktop to another display, like a monitor, to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the desktop or the TV.

7. Check for System Updates

  • Windows Update: Ensure your operating system is fully updated, as updates can contain bug fixes and improvements.
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.

8. Monitor for Overheating

  • Overheating: Overheating can cause hardware issues, including display problems. Ensure your PC has adequate ventilation and the internal components are not overheating.

9. Run a Hardware Diagnostic

  • HP PC Hardware Diagnostics: You can use HP's built-in diagnostics tool to check for hardware issues.
    • Restart your PC and press F2 during startup to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics. Run a full system test.
