HP M24fwa FHD Monitor
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

My monitor will go all black for about 4 seconds then come back right where it left off. This happens about three times per hour and has no noticeable trigger. I've updated my drivers and have run diagnostic tests, but everything comes back normal or passing. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks

Hi @willo332,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP M24fwa FHD Monitor going black intermittently could be caused by several factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Check the cables: Ensure that the cables connecting your monitor to your computer are securely plugged in. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause intermittent blackouts.
  • Test with different cables: If possible, try using different cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.) to connect your monitor to your computer. Faulty cables can also cause display issues.
  • Check power settings: Make sure that your computer's power settings are configured properly. Sometimes, power-saving features can cause the monitor to turn off or go black intermittently.
  • Update firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your monitor on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and bugs.
  • Check for overheating: Ensure that your monitor is not overheating. Make sure that there is proper ventilation around the monitor, and check if the vents are blocked.
  • Test on a different computer: If possible, connect your monitor to a different computer and see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the monitor or the computer.
  • Reset monitor settings: Try resetting your monitor to its factory default settings. There should be an option to do this in the monitor's settings menu.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and hopefully resolve the issue with your monitor going black intermittently.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

Thank you for the tips. I tried switching cables, looking for new firmware, and checking the power configuration. Nothing has seemed to help. It has been doing this for over 1.5 years, since it was new. Maybe it is just a defective monitor?

Thanks,

Will
