Yes, I know this is an issue that has been posted about numerous times. I've spent the last two hours reading over the posts and trying everything step by step. Not at all what I need when I'm trying to apply for scholarships. But then I noticed that the little box that pops up when the monitor first turns on says 'Default Source: DVI'
I don't have a DVI cable. I'm using a VGA cable. When I try to get to the monitor's menu using the buttons on the monitor, it just goes to sleep before I can do anything. Is there a way for me to switch the source to VGA?

Welcome to HP support community.
Are you using a computer with discreet graphics card?
If customer is using a computer with discreet graphics card then he might be connecting the monitor to the wrong port.
Let me know how it goes.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
