I believe it has something to do with usb c. Fyi i am using the c to c cable that came with the monitor. The speakers that are connected to the speakers are working.

Hi @Scax
Welcome to the HP support community.
It sounds like you're trying to connect your HP M24fd FHD USB-C Monitor to your HP laptop via USB-C, but it's not working for video output. Since the audio (via speakers connected to the monitor) works, it indicates that the USB-C connection is providing power, but not the video signal. Here are some things you can check and try to resolve the issue:
1. Ensure the Laptop Supports Video Over USB-C
Not all USB-C ports support video output. To verify:
- Check if your laptop's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt Mode), which is required for video output.
- Look up your laptop model and check the specs to ensure the USB-C port supports video output.
- If the port only supports charging or data transfer, you’ll need to use a different port (e.g., HDMI) for video.
2. Check USB-C Cable Compatibility
The USB-C cable that came with the monitor should support both data and video signals. However, some USB-C cables are designed only for charging or data transfer and may not support video. Double-check that the cable is rated for video transmission.
3. Select the Correct Input on the Monitor
- Use the monitor’s OSD (On-Screen Display) menu to select USB-C as the input source if needed.
- Usually, you can access this by pressing the Menu button on the monitor and navigating to Input Source to ensure USB-C is selected.
4. Update Graphics Drivers
- On your laptop, check for driver updates for your graphics card or GPU.
- Go to Device Manager > Display adapters, right-click on your GPU, and select Update driver.
- Alternatively, go to the laptop manufacturer’s website to download the latest graphics drivers.
5. Try Connecting via a Different Port
- If the USB-C connection is still not working, this can help you isolate whether the issue is with the laptop's USB-C port or the monitor itself.
6. Test the Monitor and Laptop with Another Device
- Try connecting the monitor to another device that supports USB-C video output, such as a different laptop or a phone (if compatible).
- Similarly, try connecting your laptop to another USB-C monitor, if possible, to rule out a faulty cable or monitor port.
7. Check Display Settings on Your Laptop
- On Windows, press Win + P and select Extend or Duplicate to send the display to the monitor.
- Go to Settings > System > Display, and make sure the monitor is detected. If not, click Detect.
8. Power Cycle the Monitor and Laptop
- Turn off both the monitor and laptop.
- Unplug the monitor’s power cable for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
- Restart your laptop and then reconnect the USB-C cable.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
