I purchased a refurbished HP Pavilion from a local computer store. At the time I had the touch screen was working. Normally I use a mouse but my wife likes the touchscreen. She doesn't use the computer very often, so I am not sure when it stopped working. I am currently using Windows 10 not sure if it is 32 bit or 64 bit. I went through the following steps. 1. Open up Device Manager 2. Selected Human Interface devices. 3. HID compliant Touch screen was not shown on list. 4. Click on Show hidden devices - it then showed on list, but in light shading. I then clicked on properties (i think) then window pops up and says. Location of device is "on USB Input device" Currently this hardware device is not connected to computer (code 45). To fix this problem reconnect this hardware device to the computer. I have no idea how a touch screen device is connect to a USB, or how to connect it. I no longer have a CD with Windows 10. I do have a windows backup on a stand alone drive that was part of the system I traded in. Hesitate to use any part of that backup.
When I look at the Windows version of this machine I get - Version 22H2 OS build 19045, 3448
Need Help. Thanks

Thanks for contacting me. I did not have success. In fact, it may have become worse. I followed the first link. This is what happened. Used manage devices. Clicked on "Human Interface devices" Touch screen device was not on list. I then clicked on "Show hidden devices" This is found on the same drop down where you would enable the device. The "HID-Compliant Touch Screen" showed up, but it was light grey in color as as opposed to others on the list that were a darker grey. The link then instructed me to deleted the device and restart the computer. I did that. Now the "HID-Compliant Touch Screen" does not show up at all, even as a hidden device.
I then went to the bios provided link. I got as far as firmware. Computer said it was current. Not sure if you need this, but the serial number on this machine is 8CC6350h0X Model #24-b017. Still need your guidance.

Hi @mikekoll,
I am sorry to hear that the above-shared link did not help much.
Were you able to perform hardware diagnostics for the touchscreen and did it pass?
Take care and have a great day ahead!

Not sure what you meant by "Hardware Diagnostics". Don't think that was mentioned in either of the links you sent earlier. However, I am not an expert on any of these tests. What I can say is that my device manager no longer list the Touch Screen in the list of Human Interfaces Devices. Consequently if you are asking me if I have run any test on any thing related to just the Touch Screen device. I no longer have Touch Screen as something I can select. That seems to be the thing that needs to be added to my system.
