After a recent update, either driver or windows on 3/12 my touchscreen won't work. It appears in a search my HID/VID component was "deleted"? Device HID\VID_222A&PID_010E&MI_00\7&26BA119C&0&0000 was deleted!  My touchscreen driver is hidden, but says it is up to date, but no touchscreen!  Anyone have any idea how to get this component back in my computer? I tried a system restore, it didn't work.  All help is outdated!  Always an update messing things up.  I want my touchscreen back!  :Crying:

Welcome to HP Support Community

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

As I have already stated, I have done all this prior to even posting here!  This advice as well as your virtual assistant are no help.  It is not going to reinstall a component that was deleted from a driver update.  I have contacted Intel, Microsoft and your support, all with no help.  I have trouble shot this for 3 nights trying to find the HID component that was deleted during an update.  If you cannot give me a direct link to reinstalling the component that was deleted, please don't send these help tips you can find anywhere on HP.  There are no updates to run in either place and I have tried all these "tips" already.

I suggest you perform a Reset and let me know if that helps

I have already done a system restore to a point prior to the update and that didn't work.  I haven't decided if toughscreen is worth potentionally losing settings and such with a reset.  I'll consider it, but then eventually, that update will run again and the same issue will potentially happen.  There was an Intel driver update that night....I assume that is what messed up the file.  Oh well.  Thanks.
