HP Pavilion All-in-One - 24-b029c (Touch)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've searched and searched and tried all the solutions I can find, but still have had no luck. The driver for my touchscreen All-in-One has disappeared.

When I attempt to reinstall the driver sp79279.exe I get the error:

"This touch panel IC firmware update is for ILITEK only.
Please ignore this firmware update program and exit this program."

I have tried:

- a quick reset (saved my files) - no luck

- a clean reset - no luck

- updated BIOS - no luck

- reset BIOS - no luck

- in  Device Manger I've checked "show hidden devices" and scanned for harware changes - no luck

My windows updates are all up to date (including the optional ones). I'm hoping there is another way to get this driver back!

Firmware for touch screen is not the same as the driver.

Please read the following and do the "uninstall" that is talked about

You can also see if the HP support assistant can get the correct driver

Thank you for the reply.

I have reinstalled that BIOS - I still do not have the HID-compliant touch screen in my Device Manager.

I have also tried the firmware update again with no luck.

(scanned for hardware changes, showed hidden etc)

Unfortunately, there is no HID-compliant touch screen in my Device Manager to try out the uninstall route (and it is not available in the diagnostics either. The computer believes it is NOT a touchscreen - even though it is and the clean reset didn't help it remember 😕

Thank you for taking the time to post the links to the troubleshooter and the support assistant. At this time the support assistant is recommending taking the All-in-one apart and unclipping/reclipping the connections

You might want to enable remote desktop on the laptop in case the screen completely goes out while troubleshooting

Alternately Splashtop can be installed which allows access from a smart phone
