Yes, I’ve been using it with Acer desktop so I know it works. I also tried to connect a different HP laptop to the desktop as well and same issue. No screen, I get message to check cable., no signal. I used it with Acer with a VGA cable and have tried to connect to new Dell with a VGA, DVI and a display port and none of them are working. Are HP monitors not compatible with Dell?

This won't work.

That means nothing wrong with the monitor (even it is very old)

What is you Dell machine ?
Monitor ONLY has VGA, DVI-D, and display port connectors. Please check your cables.
Regards.
