My touchpad is unresponsive and doesn't click. In my device manager the I2C HID Device is giving a driver error. Here is the exact error.

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

A request for the HID descriptor failed. This typically occurs when there is a problem with the device firmware.

Please contact the system manufacturer for further assistance.
For some more context for the past year the touchpad has done this on and off but was fixed with a simple restart and now it wont work after anything.
This is what I have tried to fix this.
1. Uninstall and restart

2. Disable and enable
3. Update BIOS (F.16) and loaded defaults
4. Windows Update
5. I updated all other drivers I could from the HP website

6. I tried finding HP customer support but to no prevail so this is the last bet before taking to a shop or opening up the laptop to check for a loose connection.

You can enter the BIOS interface to test the touchpad, provided that your BIOS is a UEFI BIOS that supports mouse operation. If the touchpad still does not work in the BIOS, there is a higher possibility of a hardware issue. If it works normally in the BIOS, the issue is more likely related to the driver.

In addition, after backing up your important data, you may try the following steps: shut down the computer and disconnect all external devices, including the power adapter. Then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds before releasing it. After that, reconnect the power adapter and press the power button once to turn on the computer. The first startup may take some time, so please wait patiently. Once the system starts, test the touchpad again.

If the issue persists after these steps, it is recommended to contact an official HP authorized service center in your local city for further inspection.
