@Fihad, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your HP desktop shows both VGA and HDMI connections as inactive, here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Monitor Input Source

  • Ensure your monitor is set to the correct input source (VGA or HDMI).
  • Use the monitor’s physical buttons or on-screen menu to switch between inputs.

Verify Cable and Port Functionality

  • Try using a different VGA or HDMI cable.
  • Connect the monitor to another device (like a laptop) to confirm the cable and monitor are working.
  • Inspect the ports for any physical damage or dust.

Detect Displays in Windows

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
  • Scroll down and click Detect under “Multiple displays”.
  • If the monitor is detected, configure it as Extend, Duplicate, or Second screen only.

Update Graphics Drivers

  • Outdated or corrupted drivers can prevent display output.
  • Visit HP support site to download the latest graphics drivers: Official HP® Support

BIOS Settings Check

  • Restart your PC and enter BIOS (usually by pressing Esc, F10, or Del during boot).
  • Check if integrated graphics are enabled (especially if using onboard VGA).
  • Save changes and exit.

Try One Display at a Time

  • Disconnect one display (e.g., VGA) and boot with only HDMI connected.
  • Then try the reverse. This helps isolate if one port is causing a conflict.

Check for Hardware Conflicts

  • If you have a dedicated GPU and onboard graphics, ensure the correct output is being used.
  • Some desktops disable onboard graphics when a discrete GPU is installed.
