Hi @Nikhil141727,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Vertical lines on a display can indicate hardware or software issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check for External Damage

  • Inspect the Screen: Look for any visible damage on the screen.
  • Check Cables: Ensure all cables (if using an external monitor) are securely connected.

Step 2: Restart Your Computer

  • Simple Restart: Sometimes, restarting your computer can resolve display issues.

Step 3: Update Graphics Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager:
    • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Update Driver:
    • Expand Display adapters.
    • Right-click your graphics card and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Step 4: Check for Windows Updates

  1. Open Settings:
    • Press Win + I to open the Settings app.
  2. Update & Security:
    • Go to Update & Security and click on Check for updates.

Step 5: Test with External Monitor

  • Connect External Monitor: If the vertical line doesn't appear on the external monitor, the issue might be with your display.

Step 6: Boot into Safe Mode

  1. Enter Safe Mode:
    • Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    • Go to the Boot tab and check Safe boot, then restart your PC.
  2. Check Display: If the line disappears, it could be a driver or software issue.

Step 7: Perform a Clean Boot

  1. Open System Configuration:
    • Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  2. Clean Boot:
    • Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and click Disable all.
    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
    • Disable all startup items, then restart your computer.

Step 8: Check BIOS and Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Enter BIOS:
    • Restart your computer and press Esc or F10 to enter the BIOS menu.
  2. Hardware Diagnostics:
    • In the BIOS menu, navigate to Diagnostics and run a full system test.
