Hi @Nikhil141727,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Vertical lines on a display can indicate hardware or software issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:
Step 1: Check for External Damage
- Inspect the Screen: Look for any visible damage on the screen.
- Check Cables: Ensure all cables (if using an external monitor) are securely connected.
Step 2: Restart Your Computer
- Simple Restart: Sometimes, restarting your computer can resolve display issues.
Step 3: Update Graphics Drivers
- Open Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Update Driver:
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click your graphics card and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Step 4: Check for Windows Updates
- Open Settings:
- Press Win + I to open the Settings app.
- Update & Security:
- Go to Update & Security and click on Check for updates.
Step 5: Test with External Monitor
- Connect External Monitor: If the vertical line doesn't appear on the external monitor, the issue might be with your display.
Step 6: Boot into Safe Mode
- Enter Safe Mode:
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Boot tab and check Safe boot, then restart your PC.
- Check Display: If the line disappears, it could be a driver or software issue.
Step 7: Perform a Clean Boot
- Open System Configuration:
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Clean Boot:
- Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
- Disable all startup items, then restart your computer.
Step 8: Check BIOS and Hardware Diagnostics
- Enter BIOS:
- Restart your computer and press Esc or F10 to enter the BIOS menu.
- Hardware Diagnostics:
- In the BIOS menu, navigate to Diagnostics and run a full system test.
