I would have chosen the board if one would be provided for monitors, but not even that choice is available, so I'm going with one that is not even related to my issue, JetAdvantage, Printing Applications and Services.
I recently bought an HP EliteDisplay E243m 23.8-inch Monitor. All of a sudden a Theft Mode message has popped up on the screen, which renders the monitor unusable. I've searched for a solution to no avail. I found one that suggests pressing the "+" and "-" buttons at the same time, but such buttons are nowhere to be found on the monitor.
It's very frustrating to buy a product, only to not be able to use it. No instructions are provided in the Manual either.
Can somebody please provide an answer?

I think you want / need / maybe already have the Display Assistant Software available from Portrait:

The HP Display Assistant Software is referenced in the User Guide on Page 2

Apparently, the software can set / control / disable the "theft" settings.
