I have replaced display port to VGA to VGA monitor Cable for PC and still getting same error message "check video cable on the primary monitor. How do I resolve? I work remotely and need both monitors

It is not practical to use a DP to VGA cable.
Your monitor needs to have a digital input such as Display Port, DVI or HDMI.
Buy a DP to HDMI or DVI cable if your monitor does not have a display port input, but has one of the other two inputs.
A DP to VGA cable that might work would be extremely expensive because it has to convert the display port's digital signal to an analog signal that is used by VGA.
A $10 cable isn't going to work.
I don't even know why they sell them.
