I am zoomed right out on my new 620 FHD Webcam (USB port).
How can I zoom in? The wide-angle is really useless and everyone is commenting how small my image is.
Why is the camera like this? i would have never purchased it if i knew. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks Rachel. I had tried ALL of these things without success (my partner also spent a day trying).
Unfortunately on the HP site for this Webcam there is no useful information about the software or drivers, or how to overcome this problem.
But after 3 hrs and 3 different phone numbers, I eventually found someone on the HP support who was very helpful and solved my problem. They instructed me to download the "Poly Lens" app, and that can be used to adjust the zoom.
It would be great if this information could also be added to the product information page for this webcam, as I am sure others will have the same query.

Hi @JJ_2024,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your new 620 FHD webcam has a wide-angle lens, which can capture a larger field of view but often results in a zoomed-out appearance. This is useful for capturing more of the background but not ideal for focusing closely on your face. Here’s how you can address this issue and potentially zoom in or adjust the camera settings:
**1. Check Webcam Software or Driver
Install Webcam Software:
- Many webcams come with their own software or drivers that allow you to adjust settings like zoom, contrast, and more. Check if there’s any software bundled with your webcam or available for download from the manufacturer’s website.
Open Webcam Settings:
- Go to your Start Menu and search for the webcam’s settings or software. Open the software to check for options related to zoom or field of view.
Adjust Zoom Settings:
- If the software provides a zoom function, adjust it to your preference. Some software also allows you to crop the image, which can effectively zoom in.
**2. Use Camera Controls in Video Conferencing Apps
Video Call Software Settings:
- If you’re using video conferencing software (like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Skype), you can often adjust the camera settings within the application. Look for options like Video Settings or Camera Settings.
Adjust Zoom or Cropping:
- Some applications offer built-in zoom or cropping options that might help in adjusting the view of your camera.
**3. Use Third-Party Camera Adjustment Software
Download Camera Adjustment Tools:
- Tools like ManyCam, YouCam, or OBS Studio can provide more advanced camera controls, including zoom and cropping.
Configure the Settings:
- Install and open one of these tools. Look for settings related to zoom or field of view adjustments. Configure the settings to zoom in or crop the video feed as needed.
**4. Adjust Camera Placement
Physical Adjustment:
- If software adjustments don’t suffice, try physically adjusting the camera placement. Move the webcam closer to your face or adjust its angle to get a better framing.
Use a Stand or Mount:
- Consider using a stand or mount to place the camera at a more optimal distance or angle for your needs.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
