Hi @abhitej1721,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you might be dealing with an issue related to the touchpad or the settings for it on your HP 14s inch Laptop PC. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Check for External Mouse or Touchpad Issues:

  • Make sure there's no external mouse connected that could be causing the cursor issues.
  • If using a touchpad, check if it’s clean and free from debris.

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers:

  • Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
  • Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager. Expand Mice and other pointing devices, right-click on your touchpad, and select Update driver. You can also try Uninstall device and then restart your laptop to reinstall the driver automatically.

Adjust Touchpad Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad. Here you can adjust touchpad sensitivity and other settings. Sometimes, changing the sensitivity or turning off certain gestures can help.

Disable Touchpad Temporarily:

  • Sometimes disabling the touchpad can help determine if it’s the source of the issue. You can usually toggle the touchpad on and off with a function key (e.g., Fn + F7, but it varies by model). Check your laptop’s manual for the correct key.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Boot into Safe Mode to see if the problem persists. If the cursor behaves normally in Safe Mode, the issue might be related to third-party software or drivers.

Perform a System Scan:

  • Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or another antivirus program to rule out malware or other security issues.

Reset Touchpad Settings:

  • Some touchpad software (like Synaptics or ELAN) has its own control panel. Open it from Control Panel or Settings and look for an option to restore default settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
