whenever I try to write something the text cursor indicator jumps back to the starting point. And the screen flickers automatically and open the 1st folder in the screen.

@Heysoum, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the text cursor jumping back in!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with a jumping cursor and unexpected screen flickers—let's get this sorted out! Based on what you described, it sounds like there might be a few things at play here.

Try these steps:

Check for External Devices

  • If you have any external mouse, keyboard, or USB device connected, try disconnecting them and see if the issue persists. Sometimes, an external device might be causing interference.

Update/Reinstall the Touchpad Driver

  • Go to Device Manager (Press Win + X and select "Device Manager").
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices > Right-click on your Touchpad driver > Select Update driver > Choose Search automatically for drivers.
  • If the issue continues, try uninstalling the driver and restarting your laptop—Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Adjust Touchpad Settings

  • Open Settings (Win + I) > Devices > Touchpad.
  • Reduce the touchpad sensitivity to see if that helps.

Check for Malware or Background Processes

  • Run a full scan using Windows Security (Win + S > Type “Windows Security” > Virus & threat protection > Quick scan).
  • Also, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check if any unusual processes are running.

If the issue persists after these steps, let me know, and we’ll explore further solutions together. 😊

Looking forward to your update!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
