In the specsheet for this monitor (https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05628287#AbT2) it says:
But I can't for the life of me find it in the OSD, nor can I find this mentioned in the manual. Am I missing something? Or does this monitor not actually have a Flicker Free mode? Or is it just always on by default and is not toggleable?

@ioev, welcome to the forum.
It definitely shows Flicker Free in OSD ( User selectable in On-screen Display (OSD) menu) in the Specifications here. However, it doesn't show it in the User Guide here in the On-screen Display section. I suggest that you look through each of the categories to see if it is tucked away in one of the other options. This is the only thing that I can figure.

I've exhausted all the menu items to no avail.
I guess the next step is to try to figure out a good way to test if PWM is being used, as maybe the monitor is just always in flicker-free mode (I really don't see why HP would make a toggle, as that would need to introduce complicated circuitry that implements both PWM and DC dimming...)

I've done some more searching on this, and tested the monitor via: https://www.testufo.com/framerates#count=3&background=none&pps=960 (take a picture with your phone, if you see multiple distinct images, then it's using pwm) and this monitor is definitely using PWM and is not "Flicker-Free" as it's been advertised. Pretty disappointing to only discover at this point, since it was really the only factor is my getting new monitors...
