HP 2710m 27-inch Diagonal LCD Monitor
Microsoft Windows 11

Turning on my Dell Desktop generates error:  WinVDEdrv6.sys cannot load due to system setting (memory integrity compatibility).  Often monitor does not activate unless I restart PC a few times.  Is this driver the problem?  Is there a fix?  Turning off memory integrity warns of other possible incompatibilities.  Is there a solution or must I ditch my 14 year old monitor which otherwise still functions well?

Hi @wulimd,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP monitor that does not activate intermittently.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Please follow the below steps to fix the issue.

Update Graphics Drivers on your PC:

  • Ensure your graphics card drivers (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) are fully up-to-date. Go to the device manufacturer's website or use Device Manager to check for updates:
    • Open Device Manager > Display Adapters > Right-click on your graphics adapter > Update Driver.

Check Monitor Cable & Connection:

  • Sometimes a poor or loose connection can cause intermittent issues with monitor activation. Make sure the HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA cable is securely connected to both your monitor and your desktop. Try swapping out the cable if you have a spare.

Try a Different Port:

  • If your desktop has multiple display output ports, try connecting the monitor to a different port (e.g., from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 or from DisplayPort to HDMI). This can sometimes resolve issues with signal recognition.

Test the Monitor on Another Computer:

  • If possible, test your HP 2710m monitor on another computer. If the monitor works fine on another system, this confirms the issue lies with the desktop or its configuration.

Adjust Screen Resolution or Refresh Rate:

  • Go to Settings > Display and try adjusting the Display Resolution and Refresh Rate to ensure they match the supported specs of your HP 2710m monitor.

Consider Using an External Display Adapter:

  • If you're using an older display port like VGA, it might be worth considering a more modern adapter or even a USB to HDMI Display Adapter for more stable connectivity.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
