Desktop about 3 weeks old. Been perfect but today screen enlarges and icons at top and bottom missing or barely visible. Went to Setting/Display etc and all settings are as recommended. Was on the phone to support for ages and when he realised he couldn't fix it he put me on hold and vanished un til I gave up.
Can it be fixed or how do I get a replacement ? Many thanks.

@Bootneck107 -- move the mouse-pointer anywhere on the Windows "wallpaper" that is not near any icon.
Click with the right-side mouse-button, and choose "sort by", and then one of the options.
Does this "pull" all the icons into the visible area?
Or, Press and hold the Ctrl key while rolling the mouse's scroll-wheel up (larger) or down (smaller) to cycle the icon view to the size you want, and release the Ctrl key when done.

Thanks very much but no luck. On the 1st option I could find nothing to return the screen to the correct size. In Display both Size and Resolution are at the recommended setting.
I tried option 2 and when I scrolled the mouse wheel all that happened was that the Recycle bin icon in top left corner got bigger and bigger but it had no effect in bringing the partially hidden icons on the taskbar back into full view.
Once again, thanks for trying. Much appreciated.

Which way did you "scroll" the wheel?
Maybe, scrolling in the opposite direction will "get smaller and smaller" ???

@Bootneck107 -- can you connect a different monitor? The "plug-and-play" software within Windows should adjust the "recommended settings" to fit this monitor. Does it help? If not, then if you return to the original monitor, does Windows adjust (again) from the "other" monitor to "your" monitor?
Can you connect your monitor to some other computer? Does that produce a "normal" display?

I will plug in my old PC and see what happens BUT since I bought the new one it has been fine until the last few days. I seem to remember when I turned on the PC an update was loading and the problem was seen after that. Could that be the problem ?

SORTED. It wasn't the PC at all it was the monitor. On the back is a button that 'tilts' 4 ways, each one with various settings. On one I found 'Fit to Size' or something similar. One touch and screen went back to nlrmal. Sorry for wasting everyone's time.

@Bootneck107 -- It is good that a solution was found. Was somebody in your household "pranking" you?
