Hi @meganflores2709,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP All-in-One desktop has a broken screen but the system is otherwise functional, you can still recover your files using one of the following methods, However if you are not a Technician, request to get in touch with a Technician to get help removing the components and they can help retrieving the data for you:
Option: Remove the Hard Drive and Access It from Another PC ( Only with the Help of an Expert)
This is the most reliable method when the screen is unusable and no external display is supported.
Steps:
- Power off the PC and unplug all cables.
- Place the unit face down on a soft surface.
- Remove the back panel using a screwdriver (refer to your model’s HP Maintenance and Service Guide).
- Locate and remove the internal hard drive (usually 2.5" or 3.5" SATA).
- Connect the drive to another working PC using:
- A SATA-to-USB adapter, or
- A hard drive docking station, or
- An external hard drive enclosure.
- The drive will appear as an external drive on the second PC, allowing you to copy your files.
🔍 You can find your model’s disassembly instructions by searching “[Your HP Model] Maintenance and Service Guide” on HP Support.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
