Microsoft Windows 11

connected new windows surface pro 11 to 2 x HP Compaq LA2405x screens and resolution is fixed at 640 x 480 and greyed out so I can't make any adjustments. Driver updates for both HP Compaq and Del docking station are correct.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

Kindly follow the below steps and check of the issue is fixed :

Check Display Settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Display.
  • Confirm that both monitors are detected individually.
  • If they appear as “Generic Monitor,” Windows may be using fallback drivers.

 Update Graphics Drivers

 Test Direct Connection

  • Temporarily connect one monitor directly to the Surface Pro (bypassing the dock) to see if resolution options appear.
  • This helps confirm whether the issue is with the dock or the monitor driver.

 Monitor Driver

  • In Device Manager > Monitors, right‑click the HP Compaq LA2405x entry and select Update driver.

 Docking Station Firmware

  • Check Dell’s support site for any firmware updates for your docking station, as outdated firmware can limit resolution output.

I hope this helps.
