In the last month my desktop camera stopped working for Zoom or Google Meet meetings.  It does work when I turn the camera on as and identity device to allow access to the desktop.....but doesn't work during meetings for work.

Hi @Rose3204

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check Camera Permissions

  • Windows Settings:
    • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
    • Make sure that camera access is turned on for your device and that apps like Zoom and Google Meet are allowed to access the camera.

2. Update Camera Drivers

  • Device Manager:
    • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Expand the Imaging devices section, find your camera, right-click on it, and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

3. Check Video Settings in Zoom and Google Meet

  • Zoom:
    • Open Zoom and go to Settings > Video.
    • Ensure the correct camera is selected from the dropdown menu.
    • Test the video to see if it works.
  • Google Meet:
    • Before joining a meeting, click on the three dots in the bottom right corner of the screen.
    • Go to Settings > Video and select the correct camera.

4. Close Other Applications

  • Ensure that no other applications are using the camera (like Skype or other video conferencing apps). Close any that might be using the camera to free it up for Zoom or Google Meet.

5. Restart the Apps

  • Close and reopen Zoom or Google Meet after making the above changes.

6. Check for Windows Updates

  • Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

7. Reboot Your Computer

  • Sometimes a simple restart can fix issues related to device drivers or application settings.

8. Test with Another Application

  • Try using another video application (like Skype or the Windows Camera app) to see if the camera works there. This can help determine if the issue is with the camera itself or specific to Zoom/Google Meet.

9. Reinstall the Applications

  • If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling Zoom or clearing your browser cache for Google Meet.

10. Check Antivirus/Firewall Settings

  • Sometimes, security software can block camera access. Ensure that your antivirus or firewall isn’t blocking Zoom or Google Meet from accessing the camera.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
